Page 66 - May 25, 1839 - Murdered Sheep

May the 25 . 1839 Page 66

Sat 25 Clear this morning and quite nice
last night we had a sheep murdered
by a dog I found out the murder and
shot him for doing the deed in the evening
it got cloudy and after night it rained
som I went down to Mr. Coopers mill
and then to the store I got me a curry
Comb price 25 cents and a silk hank.
erchief price 1.37 cents and a coat patron
and trimmons price .16. dollars a is
to be paid for against crismas if so
be that I can no more at this time

Sun 26 Cloudy this morning and has rained
som and continued raining by spells
nearly all day the sun shoen out som
in the evening it came up a desperate
heavy cloud withe heavy thundring and
sharp flashes of lightning and a very
rain too and it rained all night too
I went to look at my wheat and then
I was at Klepingers the balence of day

Mon 27 Clear with the exception of a cloud in
the West their is considerable of watter on
the ground at this time cool this morning
some clouds are flying over us at this time
it soon rained and rained severel times in
the fore noon in the evening it broke away
and the sun shoen out clear but in a few
moments it got cloudy and in the night it
rained I grubed some and other things

Tue 28 Cloudy this morning and raining some
but soon broke away and got nearly clear
but it soon clouded up and rained again
quite cool it raind by spells all day the
sun shoen out some of the time it got
quite cloar in the evening i I done
nothing all day and am I a soildier
of the croos a fowlewer of the lamb

Page 62 - May 1, 1839 - Late Freeze

May the 1.st 1839 Page 62

Wed 1 Cloudy this morning with a heavy
fog it mised some the sun shoen out
some two or three times it got quite
windy and cool I furrowed ot for corn
and planted I got hmy foot hurt by a
kicking the horses so that I couldent walk

Thu 2 Cloudy this morning it is very coald
and foggy the sun shoen out som two
or three times about noon it rained some
in the after noon it rained some two or
three times in the fore noon I couldent
doe enny thing owing to circumstances
on the after noon I furrowed out ground

Fri 3 Cloudy this morning quite coald for
the season heavy winds from the north
it broke away and got nearly clear the
wind fel at sun set I furrowed out
for corn and paid Mr. Mendenhall 50 cts

Sat 4 Clear this morning with a desperate
hard frost their is ice in the vessles
a half inch thick it has the appearance
of being a fine day the frost killed
all the young shots the wind it
continued moveing all day in the
evening it clouded up and rained some
it turened out quite coald I planted
corne and furrowed ot to all day

Sun 5. Clear this morning but quite windy
and cool it got quite warme I went
to Salem Meeting house in the after noon
I went to prayr meeting held at Mr.
Giningses by Mr. Barmes clear

Mon 6. Clear this morning for a while then it
clouded up and was some cloudy all
day the sun shoen out dim I furrowed
out for corn and planted some too
