Thu 28 Cloudy this morning but soon broke

away the sun shoen out it rained I

laid up fence till ten oclock then I

fixed up and went down to the great

Convention at Harrison Ville the

brig came in from Mechigon City

there was a thousand folks aut I

believe we had some showers of rain

Fri 29 Clear this morning quite pleasant

I went down to the convention it was

estimated to be 30.000 people the mad

a great to do about oone oclock 9 of

us went down to the river and scen

5 steam boats we had a fine time

we came back and cut around awhile

then we came up and staid all night

to James pattersons aftr night we

seen them shooting their seye light

we had lots of fun a marching around

Sat 30 Clear this morning quit pleasant

we went down to the convention

again a great many went home some

came back to it we went we went

down to the river again seven of

us I came back to it and staid a while

then we came up to James pattersons

all a foot we took diner there then

came home and landed home at dark

Sun 31 Clear this morning quite pleasant

at nine oclock I went over to the

sabeth school there was rite smart

out the books was Distribeted out

to every person all well pleased

there was meeting at four oclock I went

to E. pattersons to meeting oratia

Barns preached quite a nice day

Sarah Maria moris is now a ine

town of Zanesville quite a

away I and Josiah Smith went to

Zanesville I went to Mary Martens

which I found them all in good health

we came home home and went to

meeting I staid all night at T. Smith

Fri 28 Cloudy this morning and fogy it

was a fine day as ever I saw in my

life time I and Thomas Smith went

up to old nedy hals and Enochs I

came back home and went up to 18

Josiah Smith and staid all night 18

Sat 29 Clear this morning and pleasant

all day quite pleasant I wrote a letter

to aunt Sarah back to Virginia and

one to Mary Carter I staid at aunts

all night so no more at presant

Sun 1 Clear this morning quite pleasant

and warm I went to meting then

back to home in the evening I took

a pleasant little walk on the big hill

by the town the prettiest discovery

I eve saw in my life I staid at aunts

Mon 2 Cloudy this morning and looks like

rain quite smokey I went over to aunt

Pierces and spent the after noon with

them then back to aunts again after

night Ruth . Baismen and aunt Pierce

came over to aunts I bid them fairwell

then I went over to aunts again and took

a good fill of aples and bid them all

fairwell again I felt as bad as I well

could feel to leave them I staid at aunts

Tue 3 Cloudy this morning and raining some

I started for home at nine oclock I got to

Luray on the pike 34 distant frome home

quite pleasant all day miy bill was 75

cts I got 2..1 dollars bills on newark

bank that I couldent pass Harmon

on Sarah Mendenhall started back

to the Ohio aggin I plowed sowd up with

one yoke of cattle and husked some corne

Wed 2 Clear this morning quite pleasant with

a forst on I sowd wheat till noon in

the after noon I and John hows husked

one load of corn we got hom after dark

Thu 3 Clear this morning quite pleasant I

sowd wheat till noon me and John hows

in the after noon I plowd in wheat my

self quite warm all day I was at Yarnalds

Fri 4 Clear this morning quite warm I

went down to James .Servisons to muster

and came home quite tired too H. . L

Sat 5 Cloudy this morning quite warm it

rained tast night and it rained some

little this morning I went down to the

store and got me a pen knife at 75 cts

one box of caps 25 half pound of powder

in 25 in the after noon I hhrashed oats

and cleaned up 17 bushels of oats there

was a school meeting held at the school

house for trust tees E. Timmons and

I. Graves and B. Lucas was elecled

as our trust tees for this year 1839 H.

Sun 6 Cloudy this morning and has the appeara

ance of rain it was quite smokey all day

in the the evening it began to rain I

went to E. Pattersons to meeting the

H. Geninges tostay a while and get

my supper no nore at this time 18,

Mon 7 Cloudy this morning and raining a

little Father started to Chicago with

three ohter teams with him I went to

the white oke grove 21 miles distant

off I staid with him gening was a long

Fri 12 Clear this morning quite pleasant at noon

I went up to Wm Shigleys and got my

cradle and I finished my laying my six

teen acres of corn by and this makes

me in my twenty first year and I

feel my self highly favored and some

what thankful too that I am spaired

to this day I plowed in my other eight

acres of corn it rianed in the evening

Sat 13 Clear this morning quite pleasant it got

som cloudy and at noon it rained some

little quarterly meeting commenced at

Salem Meeting house I plowed till in the

after noon then I quit and cut some wheat

I went to meeting 1839 Tippecanoe Co

Sun 14 Clear this morning quite pleasant at

nine O clock I went to Meeeting the house

was in a measure full and they preached

at half past four in the evening they

held meeting again after night I staid

with S. Mendenhall S. . K went

with L. . Pulver in the evening

it got quite cloudy and had som little

of the appearance of rain at this time

TMon 15 Clear this morning with the exception

of a few flying clouds over us at presant

I plowed in my corn all day S. Pulver

helped us to harvest in wheat 1839

Tue 16 Clear this morning quite cool it conitnued

so all day I plowed till noon in the after

noon I went down to the battle ground

and then to the mill I got mee three

yards of fime muslin at 37 a yard and

a wheat stome at 18 cts S. Pulver

cut wheat for us and lewis graves

plowed faller ground I shall soen come

to the conclution to stop as quick as I can

finish those few lines at the bollom of

Sat 17 clear this morning not so cool as it has

been for some time it clouded up in the

after noon and got very cold I bought

fifty bushels of corne of Silas Colbert

at 25 cents I got three bushels of corn

per day and five bushels per hundred

for rails and I found the timber 1838

Sun 18 cloudy this morning wind west cool

brease it continued so all day I wrote a

letter to Grand father I was at home

all day to gansey County Ohio

Mon 19 clear this morning it clouded up at noon

and in the after noon it snowed rite smart

at night it snowed very hard I husked 12

shocks of fodder for Silas Colbert at 3 push

Tue 20 cloudy this morning the sun shoen out some

two or three times in the evening it

clouded up and got quite cool I husked

fourteen shocks of fodder for Silas

Colbert so ends the present account

Wed 21 clear and pleasent all day quite windy

I husked eleven shocks of fodder for

Silas Colbert old Mr Shigley got eighteen

Bushels of corn from mee father went to

town and mother too he got a table at

six Dollars no more at present amen

Thu 22 partley cloudy this morning it was

quite warm all day I husked ten shocks

and a half I wrote a letter to Sarah

And munson we gethered 3 loads of corn

Fri 23 some smokey this morning about noon it

turned quite cool and at night it snowed

quite hard old mr. Shigley got seven

bushels of corn which makes 25 bushels

of corn I husked ten shocks a and a half

of fodder wee got in three loads of

corn no more at present 1838
