Fri 8 Clear this morning with the exception

of a few flying clouds quite cool a heavy

frost on I helped Timmons husk corn

Sat 9 Clear this morning with a heavy

frost on I puled corn till noon for my

self in the after noon I kiklled a hog

Sun 10 Clear thiis morning with a heavy on

in the evening it got cloudy at 11 I

went Salem meeting house B. E.

Wood preached was quite a congragation

out to hear him after night I went John

Mon 11 Cloudy this morning and rained all

day after night it easeth some we lay

at big pine cool a and disagreeable we

was that for on our journy to Chicago

Tue 12 Cloudy this morning the sun shoen

out once we killed 2 hens and 3 pesants

we met 16 waggons from Chicago

we lay at sugar creek at old pecks

Wed 13 Cloudy this morning we got to the

buck horn tavern after night it rain

-ed I got 25 cts worth of powder

and shot and 6 cts worth of oats 1839

Thu 14 Cloudy this morning and raining some

we came to the kankakee the sun

shoen out clear I spent 43 cts 1840

Mon 26 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

lost 2 yoke of oxen belonging to James

Pierces we laid at Jacksons all day and all

night he found the cattle Just at night

Tue 27 Clear this morning we got in to Chicago

we got in about ten oclock I got 25 cts

for oats I sold 57 bushels of oats and

I got six barles of salt three of them

containing 3. 10 pounds each and three

barles containing 2. 90 pounds each and

it cost 16,93. cts three pints of tar at

18 3/4 we got back to Jacksons six miles

east of town I got half pound of reasons

at 12 cts one dosen of appels 6 cts 1839

Wed 28 Clear this morning we started from Jacksons

we lay by thorn creek and camped all night

quite cool I got a cag at 37 cts half pound

of raisens 12 cts H. R. Lucas 1839

Thu 29 Partly clear this morning quite nice

we lay at a grove 8 miles north

of the kankakee quite pleasant 1839

Fri 30 Clear this morning but soon clouded

up and rained it rained in the evening

again we lay at Rake straws 183.9.8

Sat 31 Clear this morning quite pleasant

we came from Rake straws to the

Irecoise to Wm Buckleses after

night when wee got their 1839 H

one day after date we or either of us do

promise to pay the sum of one hundred

dollars for Value Received Witness our

Sat 17 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

started to chicago we staid on big pine

all night we got their at dark 1839

Sun 18 Clear this morning quite pleasant

one yoke of James pierces cattle got away

and came Back about 6 miles we got

to sugar creek and put up for the night

Mon 19 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

got to the Rockwise at 2 oclock we met

Father and the rest coming home we

got to the buck horn tavern at night

Tue 20 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

only went to beaver creek one of the oxen

gave out and we staid all night H. Luc

Wed 21 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

lay on the kankakee we had to leave one

star back in consequence of suliness warm

Thu 22 Clear this morning quite pleasant we

went back after the star but couldent get

him we came back and the rest started after

him and got hime in the evening we yoked

up and drove over the kankakee we got a

fine shower of rain in the evening 1839

Fri 23 Clear this morning and foggy quite warm

it got some cloudy in the evening and had the

appearance of rain we lay at Huns all night

Sat 24 Cloudy this morning it rained terible hard

as we went through Thorntown and

I got 3 1/2 of sugar at 50 cts and in

the after noon it rained quite

hard and we keped a head we lay

3 miles East of Rexfords 1839

Sun 25 the sun shoen out som of the time in

the evening it rained hard we laid

at O. Jacksons 6 miles this side of Chickgy
