August the 17. 1839 Page 81

Sat 17 Clear this morning quite pleasant we
started to chicago we staid on big pine
all night we got their at dark 1839

Sun 18 Clear this morning quite pleasant
one yoke of James pierces cattle got away
and came Back about 6 miles we got
to sugar creek and put up for the night

Mon 19 Clear this morning quite pleasant we
got to the Rockwise at 2 oclock we met
Father and the rest coming home we
got to the buck horn tavern at night

Tue 20 Clear this morning quite pleasant we
only went to beaver creek one of the oxen
gave out and we staid all night H. Luc

Wed 21 Clear this morning quite pleasant we
lay on the kankakee we had to leave one
star back in consequence of suliness warm

Thu 22 Clear this morning quite pleasant we
went back after the star but couldent get
him we came back and the rest started after
him and got hime in the evening we yoked
up and drove over the kankakee we got a
fine shower of rain in the evening 1839

Fri 23 Clear this morning and foggy quite warm
it got some cloudy in the evening and had the
appearance of rain we lay at Huns all night

Sat 24 Cloudy this morning it rained terible hard
as we went through Thorntown and
I got 3 1/2 of sugar at 50 cts and in
the after noon it rained quite
hard and we keped a head we lay
3 miles East of Rexfords 1839

Sun 25 the sun shoen out som of the time in
the evening it rained hard we laid
at O. Jacksons 6 miles this side of Chickgy
