August the 5. 1839 Page 79

Mon 5 Clear this morning quite pleasant it
got some windy in the evening our august
election was held for the purpose of electing
new congress man I mowed in the fore
noon in the after noon I helped draw
in and stack hay late in the evening it
got some cloudy noe more at this time..

Tue 6 Cloudy this morning and raining a fine
little shower a heavy rain went around
to the South with some thundring and
lightning it soon broke away and the 10
sun shoen out I took up the wagon to 20
Wm Shigleys in the after noon I 183
went up to Mr. Garrets Harmon R

Wed 7 Clear this morning but soon got some
dim and in the evening it rained I
thrashed oats till it commenced Father
was getting his chickens together some
more at this time 1839 Harmon Lucas

Thu 8 Cloudy this morning and has the
appearance of rain it rained some two or
three times in the day in the evening it got
quite clear and winday I went on hunt
of bags in the fore noon in the after noon
I went up to Wm Shigleys to get
the waggon I cleaned up sixteen bushels
of oats for Father Luesa Pulver

Fri 9 Clear this morning quite pleasant Father
and curtus started to Chicago with a
load of chickens and onions I cleaned
up .30.1/2 of oats and thrashed one floar
of oats and bound up four dosens of oats

Sat 10 Clear this morning I cleaned up 25.
bushels of oats and then I went to
Laffayeette I got me my coat from
the Taylors price was 8. 38 cts and I
got several articals to quite warm too
no more at this time H. R Lucas
