22 August the .15. 1838

Wed 15 it is a raining this morning right hard

it looks like it will rain all day at

this time in a few minuets it broke

away fifteen minuets before six O. clock

in the evening it raind a terriable

shower some thundring I done nothing

of enny conciquence all day long

Thu 16 at sun rise it was cloudy but in a few

minuets it broke away and got clear as

it could be wind north it was a few

flying clouds at dark it began to cloud

up and thunder and lightning quite hard

and began to rain I cradled oats and bran

Fri 17 clear this morning with the exception

of a heavy fog at seven .O. clock father

started to camp meeting on shonney quit

warm it looks like that we will have

a fine time for the camp meeting I

went down to the store and got me

a hat at 5 dollars and fifty cents

Sat 18 clear and pleasent all day I went

to camp meeting and stopped at

Harvey Streaches and found them

all well was none Joind a tall

Sun 19 some cloudy and thundred a little in

the morning it soon broke away

and continued so all day there was

considerable out to day Susan graves

went in the after noon I dident goe

back to the ground at night a tall

Mon 20 clear this morning I started home from

Harvy Straches at seven .O. clock quit

warm and got home at ten O. clock

at three .O. clock it came up a cloud

from the East and thundred some

and raind a little sprinkle and now

it looks father came hom from

July the first 1838 15

Sun 1 quite clear and pleasent the sun rose and

shoen out warm it has the appearance of

the weather being changed for a short

space of time it raind at two a fine little

shower the sun shon out all the time I

went to Mr. Simeses to hear Mr.

Paul preach at three .O. clock went to

Mr. Benjamin Graves to prayr

meeting I steped up to S. G. and

my company was excepted so I went

to Mr. Eliga Graveses with her then

back to meeting then back to home and

I came away at dy light what good luck

Mon 2 quite clear and pleasent at this time

it was quite warm I plowed in the corn

Tue 3 quite clear and pleasent the sun rose and

shoen out clear it has the appearance

of more fineer weather in the evening it

had some appearance of raind the sun

shoen out all day I plowed in the corm

I started in it for the second time over

Wed 4 it is cloudy and has the appearance of rain

the sun shoen out wind south west at

seven .O. clock I started to Lafayette to

see a freat show and my company was

granted with Miss. S. G. to town

I took her in the show I never was so

nisely fooled in my lifetime before

I went and got two 25 cent tickets and

tried to goe in but alas when I got there

there was nothing but a little pen and

that dident soot us so I went back and

got one tickit for the other two and went

and tride to git her to goe in but she

wouldent goe her self I seen that she wante

to goe in so I went and got 50 cents of

Mr. watson and went and got two ticket

it pleased hear mightly as good luck would

have it I got in jest before the sircus

begun quite warm itn ther yes

Sat 16 it is cloudy this morning at nine .O.

clock it commenced raining lightly noe

thundring theer is a two days meeting

at the meeting hous a haff mile west of

us I made rails till ten .O. clock at four

.O. clock I went to meeting it broke

away at twelve .O. clock the sun shoen

out quite warm and set clear I had

some notion of going home with som of

the phety girls but I dident goe noe

Sun 17 it is clear this morning some diew quit

pleasent meeting continued to day

it continued to keep very pleasent

all day the hous was fool as it

could hold I went to meeting yes

Mon 18 early in the morning it came up a

dreaful hard shower terable thundri

and lightning it quit at six .O. clock

it looks broken at this time there is

a considrable of water of the ground

about two .O. clock it looked like rain

and we got a little of it at dark it looke

rain but withdrew from it thank

S. G. was hear I went to mill

Tue 19 the sun rose clear a quite aheavy diew

and some foggy it continued to keep

clear till four .O. clock and at six .O.

clock it commenced raining I put

shoen out but has the appearance

of more rain in about an hour come

another rain quite hard I was

hoing corne in the garden to day
