Page 15 - July 1, 1838 - Independence Day

July the first 1838 15

Sun 1 quite clear and pleasent the sun rose and
shoen out warm it has the appearance of
the weather being changed for a short
space of time it raind at two a fine little
shower the sun shon out all the time I
went to Mr. Simeses to hear Mr.
Paul preach at three .O. clock went to
Mr. Benjamin Graves to prayr
meeting I steped up to S. G. and
my company was excepted so I went
to Mr. Eliga Graveses with her then
back to meeting then back to home and
I came away at dy light what good luck
Mon 2 quite clear and pleasent at this time
it was quite warm I plowed in the corn

Tue 3 quite clear and pleasent the sun rose and
shoen out clear it has the appearance
of more fineer weather in the evening it
had some appearance of raind the sun
shoen out all day I plowed in the corm
I started in it for the second time over

Wed 4 it is cloudy and has the appearance of rain
the sun shoen out wind south west at
seven .O. clock I started to Lafayette to
see a freat show and my company was
granted with Miss. S. G. to town
I took her in the show I never was so
nisely fooled in my lifetime before
I went and got two 25 cent tickets and
tried to goe in but alas when I got there
there was nothing but a little pen and
that dident soot us so I went back and
got one tickit for the other two and went
and tride to git her to goe in but she
wouldent goe her self I seen that she wante
to goe in so I went and got 50 cents of
Mr. watson and went and got two ticket
it pleased hear mightly as good luck would
have it I got in jest before the sircus
begun quite warm itn ther yes
