lightly it thoughed rite smart quit

smokey all day Mr. Genings got

2 barels of salt one for him self

I drowd stable logs all day it was 39

quite heavy draging through the mud 18

Sat 30 Cloudy this morning and sleaty quit

a disagreeble day Father raised his

stable quite a disagreeable and mudy

day I drowd logs all day no more at

I went up to J. Irelands to seeson a

ground to tend then I came to meeting

I got my colts up from Mendenhalls

after night I went to Salem meting

Mon 29 Clear this morning quite pleasant it

got some cloudy in the evening I cut and

bound up oats and Michel dunfee cut hay

Tue 30 Clear this morning but soon got som

cloudy and sprinkled some of rain I

drowed in wheat for our selvs in the fore

noon in the after noon I drowed wheat

for Adam Best quite warm all day

Wed 31 Clear this morning quite pleasant I

bind up oats in hunts field we put up

66. dosens of oats in the after noon I

cradled in oats quite pleasant. 1839. 31

Thu 1 Clear this morning quite cool and nice

I am very much afflicted with boils at

this time other wise I feel quite well at

this time I finished cutting my oats in

the fore noon in the after noon I raked hay

I counted up the dayys which made four

hundred and eighty one days 1839 20

Fri 2 Cloudy this morning and raining

it continued raining we drowed in oats

in hunts field we built 2 stacks up

their it broke away the rest drowed down

oats I bound up oats for my self in

the evening I went and hired Johnsons

Graves wagon he gave me the waggon a

tirip and one dollar for a parcl of salt

bound up oats for my self in the after

noon I helped to draw in oats and claar

of a thrashing flower and then I went

down to Hirams Ginings to salt my

heifer and back home Faher and mother

went on a visit to Wm Pierces 1839

Sun 4 Clear this morning quite pleasant it got

very warm I went to Salem meeting hous

at 11 oclock I wrote some little I was in

a good dale of pain 1839 . and bouoth

Mon 22 Cloudy this morning and foggy some quite

pleasant the sun shoen out quite warm

but some few flying clouds over us at

this time I finished cutting our wheat

and I began to cut my oats in the evening

I was binding oats Wm. Samuel. David

Klepinger helped us bind oats in hunts

field we dome fine buisness we bound

up 2. 30 dosens of oats four hands of us

quite warm in the evening it had the

a hard shower on mee when I was going to

campmeeting yon side of stogdens I cut som

oats before I started and at night I went

was considerable out to day I started home

at 12 O clock and as I cam hom I got a

shower and at four I went to H. genings

to meeting after night I got the bag

Sat 30 Cloudy this morning but broke away

and in the evening it got quite clear I

went down to Cooppers store and got me

a stalk price 2.00 and a riding whip

price 62 cts in the after noon I went

to a quarterly meeting held near the

widow Genings at the school house in that

nighborhood after night I went to Mr.

James Pierces and staid all night.

Sun 31 Clear this morning and continued so

throughout the day I went back to the love

feast at bubtick preching was hedd at

the widow genings barn after meeting

I came home Silas Campbell was hear

Mon 1 of April 1839 Clear this morning and

quite warm all day I thrashed 28 of oats

Tue 2 Clear this morning quite warm it

looks some hasy I plowed up in Mr.

Hunts field for oats noe more at pres

Wed 3 Clear this morning I plowed till

noon in the after noon I had such a

swelling on my foot that I couldent

work I was some sick too 1839 22

Thu 4 Partly Clear this morning I done

nothing till noon in the after noon

I harrowed in oats quite warm all

day no more at this present time

Fri 5 Clear this morning and quite pleasent

I fixt fence till non in the after noon

I cut stalks it was quite smokey late

in the evening the sun disappeared

Sat 6 Cloudy this mornaing and has the

appearance of rain quite warm and

smokey I plowed till in the after

noon then quite Father had another

trile for the wagon he got it back

Thu 30 there is a desperate heavy fog this

morning and staid on till nine or ten

.O clock it broke away and was tollerable

warm I went to drive cattle for Adam

Best and never did se just such

a team of cattle before in my life

Fri 31 and the last day of august it was

cloudy and raining a little early in the

morning about nin O clock it raind

a fine shower it broke away and was

quite windy and pleasent all day at

sun set it was a little cloudy helped

Wm Hunt to clean up oats in the

Sep 1 clear and windy all day I went to

a campmeting near Montecello and got

there at 12 O. clock and when I got

there I saw nothing to brag of no

infermation that morning I got home

half past twelve O clock I put up

hay in the after noon so no more

down to help James Graves thrash wheat
